Second-Place Spartans Come to Charleston on Wednesday

LAST TIME OUT vs SAMFORD (2.1.25)
  • A Samford steal led to an alley-oop, giving the visitors an early 10-2 edge three and half minutes into the contest.
  • The Citadel responded with 3-pointers from Eze Wali and Adebisi to cut the deficit to three, 12-9.
  • The teams continued to trade 3-pointers as Samford led 23-15 at the under-12 timeout before a Colby McAllister triple cut the deficit back to five.
  • Back-to-back 3-balls from Fort extended the margin to 10, 29-19, at the 9:47 mark.
  • A 7-0 spurt by Samford gave it the largest lead of the game to that point, 41-24, with 3:38 left until halftime before it held a 47-29 edge at the intermission.
  • Samford's 12th three of the game pushed its advantage to 55-33 three minutes into the second stanza.
  • An 11-2 run by the visitors stretched the score to 63-35 at the 13:07 mark.
  • Moore's fourth triple of the game made it a 74-50 affair with six and change remaining.
  • Adebisi broke his season-high point total with a pair of free throws with 3:28 to go as The Citadel trailed 78-57 on its way to an 83-58 loss.
FIRST TIME AROUND
  • Back on January 15th, The Citadel trailed by five at halftime but UNCG went 7-of-14 from three in the second session to prevail 70-57.
  • The Spartans made four of five three-pointers to take a 59-43 lead at the 10:49 mark of the second half.
  • Both teams endured over three-minute scoreless stretches as the score stood at 59-44 until a John Adams layup with seven to go.
  • Another Christian Moore 3-pointer cut the deficit to eight, 59-51, as the Spartans remained scoreless for over seven minutes before a make from beyond the arc gave them a 62-51 lead at the 2:45 mark.
  • Fox hit a pair from the charity stripe to make the differential seven, 62-55, as each team experienced empty possessions before a Spartans' dunk with 1:02 to go made it a 64-55 affair.
  • Sola Adebisi got a quick layup on The Citadel's next possession, but UNCG made its free throws down the stretch to hold off the Bulldogs, 70-57.
FROM THE LINE
  • Sola Adebisi went 10-of-12 (83.3%) from the line on Saturday versus Samford.
  • It marked the first time this season a Bulldog made double digit free throws in a game.
  • It was last done by Elijah Morgan on January 24, 2024 at home against Mercer, he went a perfect 11-of-11.
