GAME NOTES

BEYOND THE BARRACKS

LAST TIME OUT vs UNCG (2.5.25)
  • A 5-0 spurt by UNCG gave it a 20-15 edge at the under-8 timeout.
  • The Bulldogs countered at the break with an 8-0 run, thanks to a pair of triples by Moore to give The Citadel a 23-20 lead.
  • A Paxton Davidson pull-up jumper with 32 seconds left tied the game at 32-32, but the Spartans answered with one of their own on the ensuing possession to lead 34-32 at the intermission.
  • UNCG started the second half on a 7-0 run before Moore's fourth 3-ball of the game cut the deficit to six, 41-35.
  • Fox knocked down two from the charity stripe to hold the deficit at five, 50-45, with 8:46 remaining
  • The Spartans hit a pair of tightly contested 3-pointers to extend the margin to double digits, 59-48
  • An 8-0 UNCG run pushed the advantage to 69-53 at the 2:17 mark as the Spartans went on to win 76-61.
FIRST TIME AROUND
  • VMI extended its edge to 35-28 before a Fox breakaway dunk cut it back to two, 35-33, with 1:38 to go until the break.
  • The Keydets closed the half with a three to hold a 41-36 lead at the intermission.
  • The Keydets started the second half on an 8-2 run to go up 49-38, forcing a Bulldogs timeout.
  • A corner make gave VMI its largest lead of the game to that point, 56-42, at the 14-minute mark.
  • Bradley Jr. was fouled on a 3-point attempt and made all of them as VMI held a 71-54 lead with four to go.
  • The Citadel mustered a late push as a Cam Glover triple, part of a 6-0 run, trimmed the margin to 11, 71-60, at the 2:16 mark.
  • The Bulldogs had to foul and the Keydets made both, but Fox answered with a quick bucket. A VMI turnover on the ensuing possession led to a McAllister three, making things interesting, 74-70, with 13 seconds left.
  • After making 1-of-2 at the line, Fox missed a three with four ticks left as VMI held on for a 75-70 victory.

FRESHMAN FIRST
  • Freshman Eze Wali earned his first collegiate start, playing 28 minutes while playing strong on ball defense and turning it over just once as the Bulldogs' primary ball handler.
WE USED TO BE FRIENDS
  • The Citadel's Paxton Davidson and VMI's TJ Johnson were teammates a season ago at Lipscomb but will play against each other for the second time this season.
  • Both started in the first go around on 1/18 but Johnson had the better day as the Keydets won and he outscored Davidson 11 to six.
IF THIS, THEN THAT...
  • If The Citadel beats VMI, it would be for 3-1 in the last four in Lexington.
  • If the Bulldogs lose, the Keydets would sweep the season series for the first time since 2019-20.
SOCON RANKS
  • Sola Adebisi is T-6 in blocks at 1.0 per game.
  • Brody Fox is T-8 in steals at 1.5 per game and 10th in scoring at 15.3 ppg.
    • He recorded his seventh 20-point performance of the season on Wednesday vs UNCG.
