The Citadel Falls on Senior Day to ETSU

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel basketball team cut a double-digit halftime deficit to seven early in the second half but East Tennessee State University's shooting was too much to overcome as the Bulldogs fell 81-66 on Saturday afternoon.

Brody Fox led The Citadel with 17 points, his 17th double-digit point performance in 18 SoCon contests this season. Christian Moore added 13 for his eighth double-digit point effort in his last nine games.

Colby McAllister had 14, thanks to going 4-of-7 from beyond the arc while Cam Glover chipped in 11.

First Half
  • A Fox fastbreak dunk gave The Citadel an 11-9 edge almost nine minutes into the game.
  • ETSU's top of the key three gave them a six-point lead, 19-13, before a Bulldogs' turnover led to a Bucs layup and caused The Citadel to take a timeout.
  • Another Bucs 3-pointer capped off a 22-2 run that opened up a 31-15 lead on their way to a 38-23 advantage at the break.
Second Half
  • John Adams three-point play trimmed the margin to single digits, 43-34, four minutes into the second session before a Fox layup got the deficit down to seven.
  • ETSU responded with a pair of buckets to push the margin back to double digits, but a pair of McAllister triples kept The Citadel within eight, 50-42.
  • Another Bucs 3-pointer pushed their lead back to 11, 50-39, before an ETSU three-point play extended the differential to 13, 57-44, at the 10:30 mark.
  • On the Bulldogs' ensuing possession, McAllister drained another long ball before Fox's hoop and harm cut the deficit back to eight, 60-52.
  • This time ETSU answered with a 3-ball before a Bulldogs turnover led to a Bucs' layup and a 13-point advantage, 67-54, with 6:07 remaining.
  • Moore's jumper got it back within nine but a 12-2 ETSU run opened up a 19-point lead, 81-62, on its way to an 81-66 road win.
