The Citadel Claims Two Event Victories at Gamecock Invite

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Bolstered by a pair of individual victories -- Ridge Dowe in the hammer and Ali Ruffin for the javelin -- along with two -- Jack Scott in the pole vault and Kaihlah McQueen for the 100m hurdles -- Top 10 all-time performances, The Citadel men's and women's track & field programs registered a strong day of competition at the Gamecock Invite.
 
On the Men's Side
  • Lowe scored a first-place showing the hammer, posting a 163-5 toss for the gold medal
  • Additionally, Lowe managed sixth in the shot put behind a 46-5.5 attempt
  • William Owens picked up fourth in the hammer off a 146-2 performance
  • Further, Owens posted a new personal record in the shot put, logging a 44-6.75 toss for eighth overall
  • In the pole vault, Scott secured third with a new personal best of 15-0, climbing to No. 5 overall in the school annals
  • Arthur Parham performed admirably in the javelin, picking up third via a 187-11 throw
  • Behind Parham, Ian McCorkle slotted in fourth off a 161-4 toss while Briggs Rehome landed sixth at 153-11
  • In the discus, Jack Weil clinched fourth behind his own personal record of 137-1
  • The 4x100m relay squad, composed of Dylan Thompson, Demetrius Shine, Charles Campbell and Bradlee Jones, earned fifth via a 41.84 mark
  • Jones initially qualified for the 100m finals behind a 10.45 time, but fall started for a DQ in the follow-up race
  • In the 5000m, Owen Sharnas slotted in at sixth, clocking a 16:11.97 mark
  • Noah Casa battled in the 400m hurdles, claiming eighth with a new PR of 56.90
  • Finally, Tyler Caron locked down fifth in the steeplechase off a 10:40.72 time
 
On the Women's Side
  • Once again, Ruffin led the way in the javelin, winning gold off a season-best 147-11 toss
  • Additionally, Sadie Grove checked in at seventh via a 109-5 throw while Sam Barnes secured eighth at 100-3
  • Over in the hammer, Emily Danielsson picked up a silver-medal showing behind a 155-8 throw
  • Further, Danielsson logged eighth in the shot put behind a 35-0.5 attempt as well as eighth in discus at 91-3
  • Riley Lair clocked third in the hammer, posting a 143-4 mark
  • In the 800m, Eryn Tufts battled for fourth, clocking a 2:25.40 time, while Abigail Thiessen finished at seventh off a 2:32.28 showing
  • Morgan Mankoski came in fifth in discus, registering a 111-3 throw
  • Over in the shot put, Yanna Cuesta tossed a 34-5.5 attempt for ninth
  • Finally, McQueen slid in at 22nd overall in the 100m hurdles, setting a new personal best at 18.71 and moving up into the No. 10 spot in the all-time record books
