JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Buoyed by a pair of strong performances, The Citadel track & field program posted a competitive conclusion to the team's outdoor campaign Wednesday and Thursday at the NCAA Championships East First Round, claiming 19th in women's javelin off a 47.79m toss from Ali Ruffin while Arthur Parham slotted in at 38th for the men's javelin via a 60.85m throw.
Ruffin, who finished second at the Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships earlier this month, finished less than two meters shy of punching her ticket to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. Parham, who also garnered a silver medal at the SoCon Championships, came up just under seven meters short of earning a qualifying position.
