Against North Florida, the Bulldogs earned their lone point at the No. 4 singles position, where senior Ted Bagwell recorded a three-set victory over Riccardo Ciulli, 6–3, 6–7, 10–4. North Florida claimed the doubles point and secured wins at five of the six singles positions to seal the match.

Later in the afternoon, The Citadel squared off against nationally ranked South Carolina. The Gamecocks secured the doubles point and followed with singles victories across all six flights to complete the 7–0 decision.

The two matches marked The Citadel's first competition of the spring and provided early exposure to indoor conditions and high-level opponents.

Following the matches, head coach Chuck Kriese emphasized the value of the opening weekend.

"Indoor tennis is tough to adapt to, but we welcome the opportunity to play very good teams early to get us up to racing speed," he said. "Ted Bagwell had a very good two-and-a-half-hour win, and our young guys got a taste of the match tempo and the level our games need to be at. We are grateful to Coach Josh Goffi and South Carolina for giving us this match each year to help get us off and rolling."
