INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The NCAA announced the initial coaches' rankings for the 2026 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships on Thursday morning, tabbing The Citadel trio of
Thomas Snipes (165 lbs),
Kyrel Leavell (157 lbs) and
Carson DesRosier (149 lbs) as No. 19, No. 25 and No. 33, respectively, within their weight divisions. The next set of NCAA rankings will release on Thursday, Feb. 12.
The coaches' rankings are determined by a vote of three coaches in each weight class. For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class. Wrestlers must have eight Division I matches in the weight class to be considered with at least one within the last 30 days.
On the year, Snipes currently owns a 17-4 overall record with a 2-0 mark in league play; Leavell, meanwhile, has logged a 13-7 (2-0) display thus far with DesRosier slotting in at 11-6 (2-0).
