BOONE, N.C. -- In spite of a trio of consecutive individual victories across the final three bouts, The Citadel (8-7, 4-1 SoCon) faltered for the first time in Southern Conference competition at defending champion Appalachian State (8-5, 5-0 SoCon), falling to the host Mountaineers behind a final 23-13 margin Sunday afternoon at Varsity Gym.

Next up, the Bulldogs return home for the final three duals of the regular season, hosting a doubleheader against SoCon adversaries Bellarmine and Davidson on Sunday, Feb. 15 before wrapping up the year with Senior Day versus rival VMI on Sunday, Feb. 22.
