MORGANTON, N.C. – The Citadel golf program concluded the final round of competition at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon, wrapping up the two-day tournament 12th overall on the team leaderboard behind a 164-over outing across three total rounds at Mimosa Hills Golf Club.
FINAL RESULTS
Notably, the Bulldogs managed to improve every round-to-round score by a significant margin, initially shooting 62-over across the first 18 holes before notching a 59-over in the second followed by a 43-over in the third.
Individually,
Lola Barnett paced the squad on the links, tallying a 35-over mark en route to 54th on the final leaderboard.
Naomi Huang slotted in at 59th off a 40-over showing followed by
Chaela Barnett at 60th behind a 44-over performance;
Madyson Riley and
Sofia Vargas capped the scoring roster for the Bulldogs at 62nd and 64th, respectively, via 46-over the 50-over outings.
"I'm proud of the way we competed," head coach
Lori Bonacci said. "Our focus and decision-making are heading in the right direction, but we're leaving strokes in the sand and around the greens. We need to clean up our bunker shots and work on our pitch shots to drop those crucial strokes to keep us in the running."
Up next, The Citadel takes a final three-week hiatus before traveling into the Upstate for the Southern Conference Championship at the Columbia Country Club on April 21-22, trekking to Blythewood, S.C., for the two-day tournament.
