O'Cain Wins Pole Vault as Bulldogs Record Three Top-10 Marks at Catamount Classic

CULLLOWHEE, N.C. – The Citadel track and field team recorded one event win, three top-10 marks in program history and multiple personal-best performances Friday at the Catamount Classic.

"I thought we made good use of the day," head coach Kris Kut said after the meet. "Jack O'Cain's event win in the pole vault was a big highlight, and there were some solid performances across the board. It was good to see our athletes keep trending in the right direction."

Men's Highlights
  • O'Cain won the pole vault with a jump of 15-7.
  • Trey Bartels placed sixth in the pole vault with a clearance of 13-7 1/4.
  • Noah Casa placed fourth in the 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 54.30, moving to No. 9 in school history.
  • Gage Herring finished seventh in the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.89 and placed fifth in the 110m hurdles with a personal-best time of 15.04.
  • Kyan Sapko ran a personal-best 56.92 to place ninth in the 400m hurdles.
  • JJ Hudson placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 23-3 1/2, while Jordan Chestnut finished eighth at 21-11.
  • Chestnut also placed fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 6-4 3/4 and fifth in the triple jump at 45-1. Langston Bailey placed eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 44-1 1/4.
  • Dylan Horne placed fifth in the discus with a personal-best toss of 156-10, moving to No. 8 in school history. He also finished seventh in the shot put at 48-0 3/4.
  • Frank Pastorino placed seventh in the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 154-0, breaking the freshman record. Will Owens finished ninth at 147-0.
  • Jack Weil placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 181-3, while Landon Cloninger finished seventh with a personal-best toss of 177-11 and Joel Amos placed ninth at 165-8.
  • Dylan Thompson placed fifth in the 100m with a time of 11.10 and seventh in the 200m with a time of 22.09.
  • Jack Wallace posted a personal-best time of 1:57.91 in the 800m.
  • Holden Tutich placed seventh in the steeplechase with a time of 10:07.41.
Women's Highlights The Bulldogs return to action May 1-2 at the East Coast Relays in Jacksonville, Fla., hosted by North Florida.
