CULLLOWHEE, N.C. – The Citadel track & field team opened the 2026 Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a strong first day Monday, scoring in multiple events, earning four all-conference performances and collecting six Day One All-Freshman Team honors at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
Results
The Bulldogs sit fourth in the men's team standings with 35 points through the opening day, while the women are seventh with eight points. The Citadel also produced four all-conference performances on day one, with
Jack O'Cain earning runner-up honors in the pole vault,
Arthur Parham finishing second in the javelin and J.J. Hudson and
Jack Weil each placing third in the long jump and javelin, respectively. The Bulldogs also picked up multiple All-Freshman Team selections, with O'Cain and
Trey Bartels recognized in the men's pole vault,
Frank Pastorino in the men's hammer throw and
Landon Cloninger in the men's javelin. On the women's side,
Jadan Dean earned All-Freshman Team honors in the hammer throw, while
Liliana Coe was recognized in the pole vault.
Men's Highlights
- Arthur Parham finished second in the javelin with a season-best throw of 62.73m (205-9), earning eight points.
- Jack O'Cain placed second in the pole vault with a personal-best clearance of 4.90m (16-0.75), adding eight points, breaking the freshman record and moving into the No. 2 spot in program history.
- J.J. Hudson finished third in the long jump with a leap of 7.07m (23-2.50), scoring six points.
- Jack Weil placed third in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 57.45m (188-6), earning six points. Weil also scored in the hammer throw, finishing seventh with a personal-best mark of 49.05m (160-11).
- Landon Cloninger finished fifth in the javelin with a personal-best mark of 56.17m (184-3), adding four points and moving into the No. 9 spot on The Citadel's all-time list.
- Frank Pastorino placed eighth in the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 48.55m (159-3), breaking the freshman record in the event.
- Gage Herring qualified fourth for Tuesday's 110m hurdles final with a personal-best 14.68 in the prelims, breaking the freshman record and moving into the No. 6 spot on The Citadel's all-time list.
- Dylan Thompson advanced to the 100m final after running a personal-best 10.80 in the prelims. Thompson also posted a personal-best 21.90 in the 200m prelims to finish 10th.
- Noah Casa qualified fifth for Tuesday's 400m hurdles final with a time of 55.90.
- Kyan Sapko ran a personal-best 56.61 to qualify sixth for Tuesday's 400m hurdles final.
- Herring also ran a personal-best 57.37 to qualify seventh for Tuesday's 400m hurdles final.
- Myer Daniels stands eighth in the decathlon with 2,927 points through five events, the seventh-best day one total in program history. Daniels ran 11.60 in the 100m, the No. 2 decathlon 100m mark in school history, posted a 5.39m (17-8.25) mark in the long jump, the No. 8 mark in school history, threw 10.56m (34-7.75) in the shot put, also No. 8 in school history, cleared a personal-best 1.73m (5-8) in the high jump, good for No. 6 in school history, and ran 53.79 in the 400m, the No. 5 mark in school history.
- Logan Branting posted a personal-best 11.01 in the 100m prelims and a personal-best 22.32 in the 200m prelims.
- Langston Bailey recorded a personal-best 6.36m (20-10.50) in the long jump.
- Trey Bartels finished ninth in the pole vault with a season-best clearance of 4.30m (14-1.25).
- Joel Amos made the finals in the javelin and finished ninth with a throw of 51.49m (168-11).
- Demetrius Shine ran a season-best 10.98 in the 100m prelims.
- Jordan Chestnut posted a mark of 6.56m (21-6.25) in the long jump.
- Jabraivon Woodard recorded a season-best 6.24m (20-5.75) in the long jump.
- Jaxon Brewer reached 6.12m (20-1) in the long jump.
- William Owens posted a throw of 44.39m (145-7) in the hammer throw.
- Jack Wallace ran 2:00.36 in the 800m prelims.
- Connor Hill recorded a season-best 1:00.82 in the 400m hurdles prelims.
- Holden Tutich finished the 3000m steeplechase in 10:18.04.
Women's Highlights
- Jadan Dean finished fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 45.82m (150-4), scoring four points.
- Samantha Barnes placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 34.39m (112-10), earning three points.
- Rachel Reininger finished eighth in the javelin with a mark of 31.80m (104-4), adding one point.
- Cameron Martin qualified eighth for Tuesday's 400m hurdles final with a personal-best 1:06.57.
- Danielle Williams ran 1:00.28 in the 400m prelims.
- DeMarie Washington posted a 1:04.83 in the 400m prelims.
- Caroline McClelland finished in 1:04.85 in the 400m prelims.
- Kaihlah McQueen ran 13.24 in the 100m prelims and 28.02 in the 200m prelims.
- Brylee Deering finished the 800m prelims in 2:28.32.
- Liliana Coe placed ninth in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.05m (10-0).
- Ainsley Dowling threw 27.98m (91-9) in the javelin.
The Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships continue Tuesday. Day Two action begins at 9:15 a.m., with ESPN+ coverage beginning at 1:30 p.m.
