CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Citadel basketball team will face Lowcountry rival College of Charleston as part of the LinkU Invitational, an outdoor college basketball doubleheader set for Sunday, Sept. 27, at Credit One Stadium on Daniel Island.
The Bulldogs and Cougars are scheduled to tip off at 3 p.m., following the opening matchup between Virginia and Vanderbilt at 1 p.m. The event will bring four men's basketball programs to Charleston for a unique outdoor showcase and fan-focused weekend surrounding the start of the 2026-27 college basketball season.
"We are thrilled to be a part of this unique and exciting event," The Citadel head coach
Ed Conroy said. "It will be a terrific experience for our team to compete at Credit One Stadium as we prepare for the 2026-27 season. I know our fans will enjoy the weekend and certainly appreciate being part of this experience with Vanderbilt, UVA and College of Charleston."
The LinkU Invitational weekend will give Bulldog fans a full Saturday of events leading into Sunday's basketball doubleheader, beginning with The Citadel football team hosting Chattanooga in a SoCon matchup at 2 p.m. as part of Hall of Fame Weekend. Following the game, fans can continue the day with LinkU Invitational activities around Credit One Stadium and Charleston, open practice sessions with all four basketball programs and additional college football watch party programming.
The weekend programming will also include an exclusive Chalk Talk at The Riviera featuring coaches and players, giving fans an up-close look at the participating programs before Sunday's doubleheader at Credit One Stadium.
On Sunday, Credit One Stadium will feature a pregame setup with food and beverage options, family-friendly entertainment and a gameday environment before Virginia and Vanderbilt open the doubleheader at 1 p.m. The Citadel and College of Charleston will follow at 3 p.m.
The event pairs nationally recognized programs from the ACC and SEC with one of the Lowcountry's oldest rivalries, bringing Virginia, Vanderbilt, College of Charleston and The Citadel together for a one-day basketball showcase in an outdoor tennis venue.
