Bulldogs Post Strong Finishes at Queen City Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Citadel men's cross country team finished 10th out of 25 teams, while the women placed 14th out of 26 teams at the Queen City Invitational on Friday evening at McAlpine Creek Park.
Carson Diggs paced the men in the 8K, finishing 46th with a time of 26:26.9. Ryder Harbaugh followed in 59th at 26:52.9, setting a personal best. Jack Wallace placed 86th in 27:32.3, while Wyatt Carey finished 89th in 27:39.4. Freshman Eian Holmes rounded out The Citadel's top five with a time of 27:58.1, finishing 107th.
On the women's side, Abigail Thiessen led The Citadel in the 5K, placing 82nd with a time of 20:29.1.
Freshman Aline Ludemann finished 106th in 21:10.2, recording a personal best, while Jenna Couch placed 108th in 21:14.4. Caroline Plummer posted a season-best time of 21:34.2 to finish 117th, followed by Sicily Thompson in 119th at 21:36.9.
"This group is special. They battled extreme temperatures and strong competition while producing a number of lifetime bests," said Kris Kut. "More importantly, they're starting to come together as a team, running as a pack and supporting one another. Coach Knight has done a great job with such a young group, and we're excited to use the next two weeks to keep building toward conference."

The Bulldogs will take next weekend off instead of competing in the Chanticleer Challenge and will prepare for the Georgia Tech Invitational on Oct. 2.
