The Citadel Athletics

JUNIOR (23): Went 21-15 in singles at the top flight, including a 3-3 mark in conference action...Played to an 18-16 mark in doubles, the only Bulldogs player to have a winning record in both disciplines...Earned a 12-13 record at 1-doubles, mostly pairing up with Kamieniecki to go 12-9 and 3-4 in SoCon play. 

SOPHOMORE (22): Played in the No.1 singles spot for the majority of the 2022 season … Tied with Sebastian Kamieniecki with eleven single-match victories … Won against USC Sumter, Washington and Lee, Point University, Eastern Florida State College, Augusta University, New Jersey City, and Methodist University … Defeated Campbell’s Damien Nezar in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-4) … Defeated Davidson’s Maxwell Kachkarov (3-6, 7-6 (3), 10-1) … In doubles match play, won eight matches. 

FRESHMAN (2021): Ranked second on the team for single wins in the season… Posted five single victories and four doubles wins… Played at No.1 or No.2 doubles… Won team’s lone SoCon singles match at No. 2 over Furman’s Jake Bhangdia (2-6, 6-4, 10-7)… Back-to-back victories over Methodist, posting 6-0, 6-0 scores in both matches on Feb. 21…  Defeated USC Sumter’s Ruben Emmerson-Hiini in three sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-1) on Feb 28 … One of two Citadel players to face nationally ranked players, in singles, Rrezart Cungu of Wake Forest rated at No.92 and in doubles, No.41 Keshav Copra of Georgia Tech… Won team’s only SoCon doubles match at No. 2 over Furman with Will Graham on March 20… Had an 8-3 doubles victory with teammate Sebastian Kamieniecki over Methodist’s No.2 seed Trent Harner and Coleman Baker on Feb. 6.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Bentonville West High School…earned the conference singles championship and helped team to conference championship as a junior and senior…team also finished as the state runner-up over final two seasons…four-time all-conference and three-time all-state selection…three-time state finalist in singles…graduated with honors.
 
PERSONAL: Son of Jake and Nicole Shoemake…father played tennis at Belhaven and Ouachita Baptist…mother played volleyball and tennis at Hendrix College…plans to major in mechanical engineering.
