INDOOR: Finished ninth in shot put (14.61m / 47' 11.25") at Liberty Open Feb. 5... Finished third in weight throw (15.84m / 51' 11.75") at Champion College Team Challenge Feb. 10... Placed seventh in shot put (14.18m / 46' 6.25") and threw 14.25m (46' 9") at USC Indoor Open Feb. 18... Took bronze at SoCon Championships Feb. 26-27 in weight throw (16.07m / 52' 8.75") and fourth in shot put (14.89m / 48' 10.25").

INDOOR: Finished third in both shot put (14.33m / 47. 0.25") and weight throw (15.38m / 50' 5.5") at VMI Winter Relays Jan. 29-30... Finished sixth in shot put (13.77m / 45' 2.25") and eighth in weight throw (16.09m / 52' 9.5") at Carolina Indoor Open Feb. 13... Placed third at SoCon Championships Feb. 27-28 in weight throw (16.61m / 54' 6") and sixth in shot put (14.29m / 46' 10.75").
OUTDOOR: Finished third in hammer throw (47.73m / 156' 7") and 11th in discus (47.16m / 154' 9") at Weems Baskin Relays Mar. 26-27... Took sixth in both discus (43.46m / 142' 7") and hammer (51.52m / 169' 0"), while placing 14th in shot put (13.32m / 43' 8.5") at High Point Vertklasse Meeting April 1-2... Finished sixth in discus (47.00m / 154' 2") and tenth in hammer (46.24m / 151' 8") at Gamecock Invitational April 10... Set a new personal best in the hammer throw at USC Open at 51.63m (169' 5") for fourth-best all-time and threw discus at 44.47m (145' 11") on April 17... SENIOR (2020)
INDOOR: Earned All-Southern Conference honors in both shot put and weight throw, taking home silver-medal honors in each at the 2020 SoCon Indoor Championships (2/29-3/1/20) … Competed in all seven indoor meets … Set his personal best in the weight throw four times during the season … Started the season off with a personal-best mark of 14.60m (47’ 11”) to finish eighth in the weight at the Gamecock Opener (1/17-18/20), and also turned in a toss of 12.80m (42’ 0”) in the shot put … Set another personal record in the weight throw, this time with a fifth-place mark of 15.34m (50’ 4”) at the VMI Team Challenge (1/25/20) … Also improved his shot put mark with a toss of 13.16m (43’ 2.25”) … At the Carolina Challenge (1/31-2/1/20), posted marks of 14.36m (47’ 1.5”) in the weight throw and 12.53m (41’ 1.5”) in the shot put … Improved his season shot put mark with a toss of 13.52m (44’ 4.25”), and turned in a weight throw mark of 14.92m (48’ 11.5”) at the South Carolina Invitational (2/7-8/20) … Finished fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.90m (48’ 10.75”) at the JDL College Team Challenge (2/13/20) … Recorded his first podium finish of the season in the weight throw with a new personal record of 15.71m (51’ 6.5”) at the USC Indoor Open (2/22/20), and posted a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 14.08m (46’ 2.5”) … Closed out his senior indoor season with a pair of personal bests in both shot put and weight throw at the 2020 SoCon Indoor Championships … Finished second in both events, including posting a mark of 15.25m (50’ 0.5”) in the shot put and turning in a toss of 16.65m (54’ 7.5”), which ranks fourth in indoor program history, in the weight throw.
JUNIOR (2019)
INDOOR: Competed in three indoor meets … At the Gamecock Inaugural (1/18-19/19), finished eighth in the weight throw with a distance of 13.82m (45’ 4.25”) and turned in a shot put mark of 12.29m (40’ 4”) … Notched his personal record in the weight throw at the VMI Team Challenge (1/26/19) with a mark of 14.06m (46’ 1.5”) and recorded a distance of 12.05m (39’ 6.5”) in the shot.
OUTDOOR: Competed in five outdoor meets … Started the outdoor season off at the Buccaneer Invitational (3/23/19), finishing fifth in the discus with a mark of 43.49m (142’ 8”), and turning in distances of 10.50m (34’ 5.5”) in the shot put and 37.54m (123’ 2”) in the hammer … Finished fifth in the hammer with a throw of 44.58m (146’ 3”) and sixth in the discus with a distance of 43.87m (143’ 11”) at the ECU Bill Carson Invitational (4/5-6/19) … At the Gamecock Invitational (4/13/19), set a personal record in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.29m (158’ 5”) and finished fourth in the discus with a toss of 47.98m (157’ 5”) … Concluded the season with a personal record of 14.12m (46’ 4”) in the shot put at the 2019 Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships … Also turned in marks of 44.05m (144’ 6”) in the discus and 46.24m (151’ 8”) in the hammer.
SOPHOMORE (2018)
INDOOR: Competed in two indoor meets … Finished ninth with a mark of 13.03m (42’ 9”) in the shot put at the Wake Forest Invitational (1/20-21/18) … Competed in both the shot put and weight throw at the VMI Team Challenge (1/27/18), finishing with a mark of 12.14m (39’ 10”) in the shot and 12.39m (40’ 7.75”) in the weight.
OUTDOOR: Competed in eight outdoor meets … Started the outdoor campaign off by competing in the shot put, discus and hammer throw at the Tiger Orange and Blue Classic (3/10/18) … Took home second with a mark of 45.30m (148’ 7”) in the discus, finished seventh with a throw of 12.39m (40’ 7.75”) in the shot and seventh with a mark of 40.50m (132’ 10”) in the hammer … At the Weems Baskin Relays (3/23-24/18), finished seventh in the discus with a mark of 43.45m (142’ 7”) and recorded a distance of 33.17m (108’ 10”) in the hammer … Finished fifth in the discus throw at the Terrier Relays (3/30-31/18) with a toss of 43.80m (143’ 8”), and turned in marks of 12.32m (40’ 5”) in the shot put and 39.08m (128’ 2”) in the hammer … At the Savannah State Duals (4/14/18), took home a pair of third-place finishes in the shot put with a mark of 13.12m (43’ 0.5”) and the discus throw with a toss of 42.01m (137’ 10”), and finished fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 34.70m (113’ 10”) … Finished fifth with a mark of 45.36m (148’ 10” in the discus at the USC Open (4/21/18), and turned in a mark of 13.75m (45’ 1.5” in the shot put … Closed out the season with a seventh-place finish of 45.67m (149’ 10”) in the discus at the 2018 Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships (5/10-11/18) … Also turned in marks of 12.94m (42’ 5.5”) in the shot put and 37.14m (121’ 10”) in the hammer throw.
FRESHMAN (2017): Competed in five outdoor meets … Made his collegiate debut in the shot put with a distance of 12.96m (42’ 6.25”) at the ECU Bill Carson Invitational (4/7/17) … Followed that up with a second-place finish of 45.29m (148’ 7”) in his first discus competition of college at the Lowcountry Invitational (4/15/17) … Also turned in a mark of 13.22m (43’ 4.5”) in the shot put … At the USC Open (4/22/17), finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 46.91m (153’ 11”) … At the CSU-Citadel Tune-Up (5/3/17), finished second in the discus throw with a toss of 44.51m (146’ 0”), while finishing sixth in the shot put with a mark of 12.88m (42’ 3.25”) … Wrapped up his freshman campaign with a second-place finish in the discus with a mark of 48.51m (159’ 2”), a personal record, at the 2017 Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships (5/11-12/17).
HIGH SCHOOL: Helped Spring Valley win region championships in 2014 and 2015 by finishing third in region in shot put as sophomore and second in region in discus as junior … Played offense and defense in football for Spring Valley … Earned all-region accolades and named team’s offensive lineman MVP as senior after helping lead Spring Valley to AAAA Division I state playoffs by recording 24 pancake blocks on offense and 13 tackles, including 4.0 for loss, on defense … Registered 18 pancake blocks as junior … Sophomore season recorded 31 tackles, including 5.0 sacks, seven forced fumbles and six pass breakups while helping Spring Valley to region title and quarterfinal round of state playoffs … Also lettered in track, where Was named Engineering Design and Development Honors Student of the Quarter and Digital Electronics Student of the Quarter for his work in classroom.
PERSONAL: Son of Chris and Elllicia Thompson … Major is sport administration.
