Dr. Lloyd “Chip” Taylor is in his 19th year at The Citadel and 16th as NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative. He holds the rank of colonel and is currently the Head of the Department of Psychology. Additionally, Taylor acts as the Chair for the Southern Conference Faculty Athletics Representatives Committee and also serves as an advisor to the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Taylor received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and completed his doctoral training at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). In addition to his teaching career, Taylor is trained as a clinical psychologist who specializes in pediatric psychology.
 
Taylor has a longstanding history of involvement with intercollegiate athletics. His father, Chuck Taylor, served as the director of athletics at Radford University from 1974-1996, exposing his son to numerous aspects of intercollegiate athletics.

While at Tennessee, Taylor tutored student-athletes. Additionally, while he was pursuing his graduate studies at UAB, he worked with SoCon member Samford University, coordinating study hall programs for student-athletes.

Taylor and his wife, Erica, have three sons, Walker, Charlie, and Enuka and a daughter, Kelly Grey Neyland Taylor.
