Jonathan Walker, CFRE, CFRM – Sr. Director of Development, Athletics
Jonathan Walker joined The Citadel Foundation (TCF) staff in June 2018 as a development officer on the Class Reunion Campaigns (CRC) team. In October 2019, he was named the Director of CRC where he oversaw class campaigns totaling over $30,000,000.
In July 2021, Walker transitioned to the athletics development team at TCF assuming the role of Major Gifts Officer where he focused on securing gifts toward leading athletics priorities including facility improvements, scholarships, and heading up sport specific giving initiatives.
In December 2022, Walker was named Director of Development where he focused on securing transformative gifts and building the development pipeline for principal, major, and legacy gifts. Walker also oversaw the successful fundraising campaign for The Citadel’s East Side Stands project.
In March 2024, Walker was named Sr. Director of Development where he will build on the success achieved in his previous role and help drive athletics fundraising results during the “Our Mighty Citadel 2026” comprehensive campaign. Walker is focused on helping the foundation achieve its campaign goals through a plethora of major, planned, and principal gift leadership as well as oversight of several facility renovation campaigns.
Prior to his arrival at TCF, Walker served as the Assistant Director of Annual & Special Giving at The University of Georgia where he focused his efforts on generating support for the university’s unrestricted scholarship fund through an omni-channel approach of direct marketing tactics and face-to-face solicitation.
Walker, originally from Knoxville, TN, graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2015 with a B.S in Business Administration. At USC, he earned four varsity letters as a member of the Gamecocks Cheerleading team serving as the university’s mascot, Cocky. Walker later earned an MBA from Clemson University in 2016 with a focus on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Walker also holds a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification through CFRE International that he earned in 2020. Additionally, he earned a Certificate in Fundraising Management (CFRM) from Indiana University – Indianapolis’s Lilly Family School of Philanthropy in 2023 demonstrating commitment to the fundraising profession and excellence in practice.
