Kevin Olivett joined The Citadel department of athletics in May of 2019 as the associate athletic director for external relations. In his current role he oversees the external units of the athletics department; ticketing, ticket sales, marketing, sponsorship sales, communications, video, graphics and social media. In March of 2023, he was promoted to Senior Associate Athletics Director.

Olivett led the efforts to outsource corporate sales (Peak Sports MGMT) and ticket sales/operations (Taymar Sales U.) in 2019-2020. The 2021-2022 athletics season saw the external relations unit reach new heights for ticket sales, groups, season, and mini plans as well as set sponsorship records never before seen at The Citadel. Additionally, the department saw record attendance numbers for football, placing in the top 25 for FCS attendance and first in the SoCon. Olivett helped lead the efforts along with the Office of Communications and Marketing to reinvigorate The Citadel Athletics Brand by partnering with Joe Bosack and Co. as well as striking a new licensing partnership with Affinity Licensing.

The 2022-2023 athletics season saw another record setting year for sponsorship sales and ticketing revenue with a 25% increase in sponsorship sales, 13% increase in baseball revenue, 22% increase in basketball revenue. The 2023-2024 athletics season saw yet again, another record setting year for sponsorships (31% increase) and ticket revenue (11% increase) in overall ticketing revenue. As well as a new partnership with a new ticket sales platform TicketReturn. Olivett's external operations team led the Southern Conference in home football attendance in 2024.

Since his arrival Basketball attendance has increased 90%. Olivett is also the sport administrator for Women's Soccer, Men and Women's Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field, and Men's Tennis.

Prior to joining the Bulldogs, Olivett spent two years as the director of men’s basketball marketing at the University of Houston. In that role, he oversaw all marketing efforts for Houston Men's Basketball games through a variety of platforms. Kevin also oversaw the men's basketball game atmosphere in the brand new $60 million Fertitta Center that opened in December of 2018. During the 2017-18 season, Olivett also worked with Houston Baseball as the marketing director.

Olivett went to Houston after serving as general manager of Stetson Sports Properties for OUTFRONT Media in December 2014. During his time at Stetson, he grew sponsorship for Hatters Athletics to an all-time high with sponsorships increasing by more than 25 percent each year. Olivett also grew the total number of sponsors 61% from year one to year two. Olivett's success led to an extension between OUTFRONT Media and Stetson. Olivett also assisted with the rebranding of Stetson Athletics prior to his departure to Houston.

Before his work at Stetson, Olivett was the associate athletics director for marketing, promotions and social media at Coastal Carolina from 2011 to 2014. While at CCU, he led efforts to revamp the gameday atmosphere surrounding Football, Basketball and Baseball. In addition, Olivett led the marketing efforts for the two highest attended Football games, Basketball games and Baseball games in school history at that time. Olivett spearheaded two significant initiatives while at CCU, one being the innovative 54-in-54 campaign that launched 54 football game day changes in the 54 days leading up to the start of 2012 season. As well as the annual Chauncey Night 5K, which sought to enhance the community relations between the City of Conway, Myrtle Beach and Carolina Forest along with being a group ticket sales vehicle.

Prior to CCU, Olivett served as assistant athletics director for marketing at Georgia State, manager of corporate sales and promotions at Akron and in a variety of marketing, sales and ticketing roles at Georgia Tech.
