CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel opens a four-game women's soccer homestand with contests against South Carolina State on Friday at 4 p.m. and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) on Sunday at noon.
The Bulldogs split their first two matches last week, posting a 1-0 shutout over USC Upstate before losing 2-0 at Coastal Carolina.
Lea Raedle scored The Citadel's goal in the win over the Spartans, and
Naomi Carter made 10 saves in goal.
SC State and NJIT are also 1-1 on the young season. The Bulldogs lost their opener to Alabama State before rebounding for a 2-1 victory over Mount Olive on Wednesday. Breia Pierce and Dominique Brown have the two goals for SC State.
The Highlanders broke even in a pair of 1-0 home games to open the year, defeating Canisius and losing to Hartford. Carly Berdan scored NJIT's goal against the Golden Griffins, and Samantha Bersett made 12 saves in the two contests.
The Citadel has a 10-0-1 record against SC State, with the lone tie coming in the most recent meeting, a 0-0 deadlock in 2011. Sunday will mark the first game between the Bulldogs and Highlanders.
