Box Score NEW YORK - Fordham took advantage of a pair of rebounds to score both of its goals in a 2-0 victory over The Citadel in a women's soccer contest on Sunday in New York.
The Bulldogs dropped to 3-5-0 while the Rams won their sixth in a row and are 6-1-0. The Citadel plays another road game at Charleston Southern on Wednesday at 3 p.m. before returning home to face College of Charleston next Sunday at 2 p.m.
Fordham held a 20-6 advantage in shots with
Naomi Carter making seven saves for the Bulldogs.
Ana Mesa and
Lea Raedle both had two shots for The Citadel.
Fordham scored what proved to be the game-winning goal 15 minutes into the contest when a shot by Kate McDonnell hit the post and Maria Lorena Canicatti was able to put in the rebound to make it a 1-0 contest.
After being held to only two shots in the first half, the Bulldogs put more pressure on Rams' goalkeeper Ally White with a pair of shots and a corner kick in the opening three minutes of the second period but were unable to capitalize.
Fordham added an insurance goal with 30 minutes left when Jessica Widmann put in a rebound off a Canicatti shot that hit the crossbar.
