CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel opens rivalry week on Wednesday when the Bulldog women's soccer team heads up I-26 to face Charleston Southern. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
Following the contest against the Buccaneers, The Citadel returns home for the first time in two weeks when it hosts College of Charleston on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Citadel has won the past two meetings against Charleston Southern to trim its deficit in the all-time series to 5-3-1. Last year at WLI Field,
Mariana Garcia scored with just over 11 minutes remaining to produce a 2-1 victory for the Bulldogs.
Both goalkeepers turned in solid performances with
Naomi Carter making eight saves for The Citadel and Dana McLaughlin stopping 12 shots for the Buccaneers.
The previous season in Ladson, the Bulldogs staged one of the best comebacks in school history, erasing a 2-0 deficit in a span of 3:03 in the final 10 minutes for a 3-2 victory.
The Citadel (3-5-0) is looking to snap a four-game losing streak while Charleston Southern (4-2-0) saw a three-game winning streak end with a 1-0 loss to Richmond on Sept. 7.

Ana Mesa are in a four-way tie for The Citadel's team lead in goals with two each. Carter leads the Southern Conference and ranks 13th in the country with 49 saves.
Anna Sells has scored five goals for Charleston Southern to place second in the Big South, and Chelsea Frankeny has two goals and two assists. Liz-Amanda Brown boasts a 1.12 goals against average and .816 save percentage.
