CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's and women's cross country teams will take part in the last race of the regular season on Friday in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
The College of Charleston Classic was originally scheduled to take place at Trophy Lakes on Johns Island and then Mullet Hall, also on Johns Island, but both courses were damaged by the recent rain and flooding in the area. The race will now take place at Winthrop Farm, near the campus of Winthrop University.
Grace Jenkins will look to continue her recent success after clocking a time of 20:10.70 at the Upstate Invitational. The time was the fastest of the season for the sophomore despite difficult weather conditions. Emani Little finished just a short time later, crossing the finish with a time of 20:31.00. Bethany Reeves and Jessica DeWitte have competed well thus far as well, finishing within one minute of each other in all four races this season. The women's 5k is set to begin at 4:45 p.m.
Michael Lantz and Ross Jordan continue to lead the pack for the men, with the pair taking first and second place in the first three races of 2015. Jordan finished first for the men's team at the Upstate Invitational, clocking an 8k time of 26:24.81. Lantz followed close behind, recording a time of 27:06.54. The men's 8k will begin at approximately 5:15 p.m.
Results from the day's competition will be available at CitadelSports.com upon completion of both races.
