The Citadel Remains Ranked

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel football team is ranked in both FCS national polls for the third consecutive week.

The Bulldogs are ranked 24th in the Coaches Poll and 25th in the STATS poll. The Citadel is 7-3 overall this season and claimed a share of the Southern Conference title with a 6-1 mark in SoCon play. The Citadel won its third Southern Conference championship, and first since 1992, and tied the 1992 team for the most conference wins in program history.

The Bulldogs' strength of schedule is 26th nationally based on cumulative FCS competition, and their seven wins are ninth among teams ranked in the top 30. The Citadel's three losses have come to teams that are a combined 24-5, which is a collective winning percentage of .828. 

The Citadel leads the FCS with a school-record 426 interception return yards and an average of 3.00 tackles for loss allowed per game and is tied for the FCS lead with four interception return touchdowns. The Bulldogs' average of 349.6 rushing yards per game ranks first in the Southern Conference and second in FCS. The Citadel's 34 rushing touchdowns and 17 interceptions top the conference and rank third in the nation, and the team's 25 turnovers forced lead the conference and are tied for sixth in FCS. The Bulldogs also rank first in the Southern Conference in yards per completion, sacks allowed, pass efficiency defense, third-down defense and tackles for loss.
