CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel wrestling team heads to Lexington on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. for a dual with Southern Conference nemesis VMI.

The two teams are locked in a tie for third place in the league standings behind Chattanooga (5-0) and Appalachian State (4-0).

The Bulldogs (5-5 Overall, 3-2 SoCon) will be looking to carry over the momentum from a 29-14 victory over SIU-Edwardsville on Jan. 25.

The Citadel wresting team posted six wins against the Cougars, including two by major decision and two by pin.

Among the standouts from that dual included Aaron Walker, who posted a 12-4 major decision in the 157 match against SIUE's Sam Zimmerman. It marked Walker's sixth win in SoCon action this season and ninth in dual matches. Walker entered the match ranked 15th by NCAA coaches in the 157 classification.

Walker completed a stellar month of January in which he went 11-2 overall and 4-0 against league foes.

The Citadel managed to keep its 4-0 mark at home intact with a 6-2 win by Marshall Haas in the 197 showdown with Jake Tindle. The victory made for a 23-14 lead for the Bulldogs heading into the final match of the day.

Meanwhile, VMI (6-6, 3-2 SoCon) is looking to get back on track after a recent 35-3 loss at Chattanooga. The Keydets moved above .500 mark in league action following a series of wins over SIUE (21-18) and Davidson (21-16) on Jan. 23.
