Box Score (PDF)

ASHEVILLE, N.C. –The Citadel (0-1) took its first loss of the season 4-0 at the hands of UNC Asheville on Friday night at Greenwood Field.

After a goal by Justine James in the closing minutes of the first half, UNC Asheville (1-0) took a 1-0 lead in to the break.

UNCA turned up the heat on the offensive side of things in the second half, scoring three goals in as many minutes to push the lead to 4-0. The Citadel was unable to mount a rally, tallying only one shot in the game.

Freshman goalkeeper Abby Koger had a busy night in the net, snagging 14 saves. Koger was one of four Bulldogs to play the entire 90 minutes.

"I thought the team worked very hard for 90 minutes," head coach Bob Winch said. "Abby Koger had a very solid game in goal for her first collegiate game."

The Bulldogs will have a day off before heading to Spartanburg to take on USC-Upstate on Sunday at 2 p.m.
