Box Score | Post-Game Quotes | Post-Game Notes

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel took down Southern Conference foe Western Carolina 28-10 on Saturday night at Johnson Hagood Stadium. The Citadel has started 2-0 for the first time since 2012, which is also the last time the Bulldogs began Southern Conference play 1-0.

The Citadel took a 7-3 lead into halftime but Western Carolina (1-1, 0-1) jumped on top in the 3rd quarter after Detrez Newsome found the end zone from four yards out. That would be the last points for the Catamounts as the Bulldogs took full control of the game.

The Citadel took the lead back before the end of the 3rd quarter when Jorian Jordan jumped on a fumble in the end zone for a 14-10 lead. The Bulldogs outscored WCU 14-0 in the 4th quarter. Evan McField scored on a 3-yard rush, and Dominique Allen capped the scoring with a 5-yard run for the final margin.

The Bulldogs improved to 6-0 under head coach Mike Houston when scoring first.

Dominique Allen had two rushing touchdowns and led the team in rushing with 99 yards. The Bulldog offense combined for 446 yards in the win.

Mitchell Jeter moved into 5th on The Citadel's all-time career sacks list. With 1.0 sack, Jeter now has 13.5 in his career, passing Justin Oxendine (13.0, 2011-14) and Chris Billingslea (2009-12).

Dee Delaney had the first two-interception game of his career and the first for a Bulldog since Tevin Floyd at Elon in 2013. Delaney intercepted a pass in the 2nd quarter and grabbed a pick on the final play of the game. He now has three interceptions in his career vs. Western Carolina.

The Bulldogs return to action next Saturday when they travel to Georgia Southern for a 6 p.m kick-off. For tickets, visit CitadelSports.com/tickets or call 843-953-DOGS (3647).
