CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel wrestling team has added former standout wrestler
Marshall Haas as an assistant coach before the 2016-17 season, head coach
Rob Hjerling announced.
Haas won the Southern Conference Championships at 197 pounds his sophomore year and was a runner-up at the tournament his junior and senior years.
During his senior campaign as a team captain, Haas was selected to the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division I All-Academic team for the third straight year.
The South Riding, Virginia native won the Reno Tournament of Champions in 2015, becoming just the second Bulldog to take first place honors at the tournament.
Haas was selected the SoCon Wrestler of the Week and later the Wrestler of the Month for his efforts during the month of December in which he posted a 6-1 record. Haas also jumped into the national rankings at No. 19 after winning the Reno Tournament of Champions.
Haas finished his Bulldog wrestling career with 86 wins, 14 pins and a 35-19 record in dual matches.
