Drew Ellis with a runner on first in the 12th inning, The Citadel baseball team downed Charleston Southern 4-3 on Tuesday night inside Joe Riley Park.

The Bulldogs (12-13) held a 3-2 lead heading into the ninth inning but Charleston Southern (11-14) tacked on a run to tie things up and move the game into extra innings.

In the bottom of the 12th,
Bret Hines drew a one-out walk bringing Ellis to the plate. Ellis, who before the at bat had tallied a single and a double, laced a double down the right field line bringing a sprinting Hines all the way home for the game-winning score.

Ellis finished the game three-for-five and
Austin Mapes went two-for-four at the plate. Hines collected one hit and scored two runs, including the game winner, in the victory.

The Citadel pitching staff combined for 16 strikeouts including a career-high eight Ks for
Philip Watcher who tossed a career-best six innings. Watcher allowed seven hits and surrendered just two runs.
Zach Lavery also pitched a career-high four innings and struck out five en route to his second win of the season. CSU used seven pitchers in the contest.
