CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel golf squad finished its second week of spring competition as the Bulldogs put together two solid rounds at the Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville, Florida. The tournament, hosted by Butler, featured nine teams and took place March 7-8 at Jacksonville Beach Golf Course.
Â
The Citadel placed seventh overall with a two-round team score of 657 (321-336). The Bulldogs were tied for second place through 18 holes after carding a 321 on Monday, their second-lowest round of the 2015-16 campaign as a team. It was the second time this year that three different Bulldogs recorded 18-holes scores in the 70s in the same round, with the other coming at the Sand Shark Shootout in late September.
Â
Sophomore
Cameron Little led The Citadel by carding a career-best two-round score of 158. She placed ninth overall among 65 competitors, her third career top-ten finish. Little shot a 78 on day one to score in the 70s for the sixth time in her career and followed with an 80 in the second round.
Â
Senior
Eraina Manor finished just behind Little. She tied four others in 14th place with a 36-hole score of 160, which was anchored by a 4-over-par 76 in round one. Manor sat in fourth place through 18 holes as the 76 strokes were one shy of her career-low in an opening round. The senior carded an 84 on day two.
Â
Junior
Renata Sucha also used a strong first round to tie for 19th and give the Bulldogs three top-20 finishers. Sucha posted a 78 after 18 holes to secure the lowest first-round score of her career. By carding an 83 on day two, she finished 17-over-par with a two-round total of 161.
Â
Also scoring for The Citadel was freshman
Marina Grimal, who carded an 89 in both the first and second rounds to post a tournament score of 178. Grimal placed 45th overall at the Benbow Invitational.
