CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel women's soccer team will continue its non-conference slate on Sunday when it welcomes LIU Brooklyn to town.
Â
"The team is well rested and we feel ready," head coach
Ciaran Traquair said. "We are still working hard at improving areas of our shape and improving in the final third. The mood in the camp is good and we hope to kick on and have some success this weekend."
Â
After defeating Alabama A&M on Aug. 26 on the road, the Bulldogs come into this weekend boasting a 2-0 record for the first time since 2009 and are one of two schools in the Southern Conference that have yet to allow a goal this season.
Â
Freshman
Logan Leask was credited with the shutout in the 2-0 victory over Alabama A&M and now has two this season, tied for second most in the conference.
Mady Riegel and
Katherine Arroyo provided the offense for the Bulldogs, scoring both goals in the first half. The Citadel finished with nine shots in the lightning-shortened game.
Â
LIU Brooklyn, a member of the Northeast Conference, is currently 0-4.
Â
The contest marks the beginning of a long home stand for the Bulldogs who play the next six of seven at W.L.I. Field. The lone road game comes at crosstown rival Charleston Southern on Sept. 9.
