CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel women's soccer team will face crosstown rivals Charleston Southern and College of Charleston this weekend as the Bulldogs continue their 2016 non-conference slate.

"It's a big week for us playing two local rivals," head coach
Ciaran Traquair said. "We are still developing as a team and are working hard every day to improve our weaknesses as individuals and as a team. I am excited for the games and hopefully the girls can rise to the occasion and put in two solid performances. It will not be easy but we go in confident and ready."

The Bulldogs are off to their best start in program history after notching a 2-0 win over LIU Brooklyn on Sunday to improve to 3-0 this season.
Mady Riegel and
Ilana Green provided the offense in the victory, scoring in the 18th and 79th minutes.

Sophomore
Emilie Valenciano recorded a team-high eight shots in the game and leads the Southern Conference in shots per game with an average of five.
Katherine Arroyo and Riegel are currently tied for second among conference members with two goals per game while Riegel is tied for first with two game-winning goals this season.

Freshman keeper
Logan Leask is tied for first in the conference with three shutouts and The Citadel is one of two schools in the SoCon that has yet to allow a goal this season. Sunday's shutout marked the first time in program history that The Citadel has had three shutouts in its first three games.

Charleston Southern is currently 2-3 and College of Charleston is 3-3 this season.
