RALEIGH, N.C. – The Citadel tennis team competed in a doubleheader in Raleigh, North Carolina, against North Carolina State on Monday.

"They are young. They are hungry. And the growth is starting to show," stated coach
Chuck Kriese about the Bulldogs' start this season. "The main thing is that we are building strength every time out. The guys are adapting and assimilating to the level they will need (to compete)."

During his first singles set freshman
Jack Pyritz battled NC State's Chris Mikrovas in a close 7-6 decision. Pyritz later fell to Mikrovas in a 6-2 decision during the second set.

NC State swept the opening match in the singles and doubles competitions, earning a 7-0 decision against the Bulldogs.

The Citadel's
Michael Anzalone dropped his match to NC State's Sean Burnette in the singles competition, finishing with a 6-3, 6-3 decision at the No. 6 position. The Wolfpack won the match's opening point by sweeping the doubles competition and singles competition to claim a 7-0 victory.
