GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG scored four second-half goals Sunday afternoon in the regular season finale to defeat The Citadel women's soccer team in Southern Conference (SoCon) action at the UNCG Soccer Stadium.
The Bulldogs (5-12, 0-9 SoCon) will now turn their focus to the SoCon Tournament, which begins on Wednesday, Oct. 25. First round games will be held at the higher seed with the No. 10 seed heading to the No. 7 seed and the No. 9 seed playing at the No. 8 seed. The other six teams earned a bye through the first round.
UNCG's Cienna Rideout netted three of the Spartans' goals, including the first two goals less than two minutes apart early in the second half. The first goal of the game for UNCG (8-7-3, 5-2-2 SoCon) came in the 48
th minute with the second goal being scored in the 50
th minute. Rideout completed her day's hat trick in the 83
rd minute.
Emily Jensen, who assisted Rideout on the day's final goal, scored the Spartans' third goal of the day in the 56
th minute.
UNCG out-shot The Citadel 20-7 in the contest, including a 9-3 advantage for the Spartans in shots on goal. The Spartans also held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
