CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel wrestling team competed in the 2017 Journeymen Northeast Duals on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Shen High School in Albany, New York.
The Bulldogs (1-2) toppled Sacred Heart 32-10 in the first match of the day.
Senior
Andrew Szalwinski earned the first win for the Bulldogs in the 133-pound weight class with a 7-4 decision. Freshman
Ethan Phillips and junior
Ty Buckiso followed with six-point falls in the 141-lb. and 149-lb. weight classes to put the Bulldogs up 15-3.
Sophomore
Douglas Gudenburr and freshman
Matthew McGillick each won in their respective weight classes to give the Bulldogs 24 total points. Junior
Sawyer Root and freshman
Michael McAleavey closed out the match at 197 lbs. and 285 lbs., respectively, to give the Bulldogs their final 32 points.
In the second match of the day, the Bulldogs faced No. 8 North Carolina State and fell 43-0.
