CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Citadel wrestling team dropped its match on Sunday to the Chattanooga Mocs.
The Bulldogs (2-10, 1-5 SoCon) fell in the 125-pound, 133-pound and 141-pound weight classes by two falls and a major decision to give the Mocs (7-9, 5-2) a 16-0 lead.
No. 29-ranked sophomore Ty Buckiso cut the Mocs' lead to 16-3 with a 7-5 decision over Roman Boylen in the 149-lb. weight class. Graduate student Aaron Walker, ranked 29th in his weight class, followed with a win in the 157-lb. match with a 10-2 major decision over Dylanger Potter for the Mocs.
The Mocs continued on to earn a pin and two technical falls in the 165-lb., 174-lb., and 184-lb. matches. 27th-ranked sophomore Sawyer Root at 197-lbs. earned the last points of the day for The Citadel with a major decision over Ira Dent before the Bulldogs fell 36-11.
The Bulldogs will return to McAlister Field House on Sunday, January 19 when they compete against Davidson to close out the regular season and conference play. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
