
Walker to Compete in NCAA Championships

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel's Aaron Walker will compete in the 2017 NCAA Wrestling Championships beginning on Thursday.
This will be Walker's fourth appearance at the NCAA championships, making him just the 10th Bulldog to compete at four national championships. He is one of 330 athletes to be selected for this year's tournament.
Walker, ranked 19th in the RPI ranking and 27th in the coaches' poll, is a 157-pound graduate student from San Antonio, Texas. He made his way to the No. 4 spot on The Citadel's all-time list for career wins with 116, and finished his career for the Bulldogs with a perfect 28-0 SoCon record.
This season he had an overall record of 27-10 and was honored on the SoCon All-Conference Team. He is just the third wrestler to be named all-conference four times since voting for the award began in 1993.
The Bulldogs recently hosted the SoCon Wrestling Championship where Walker finished third overall in his weight class. Last season, he placed second overall in the SoCon Championship and took first place overall in 2015.
The NCAA Wrestling Championships for the 157-lb. weight class are scheduled to begin on Thursday morning at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The tournament will be broadcast on ESPNUÂ and results will be available at CitadelSports.com.
