Box Score 2 WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Citadel tennis team fell in a doubleheader against Navy and Georgetown on Sunday.

In the doubles competition, Navy (16-17) swept the Bulldogs (10-27) to take a 1-0 lead in the first match of the day.

In singles play, sophomore
Roy Hobson and freshman
Jack Pyritz earned victories for the Bulldogs at the fifth and sixth position, respectively. Hobson took a 6-4, 6-4 win over Ian Landwehr and Pyritz earned his win over Josh Martin by a score of 7-5, 6-2. The Midshipmen went on to claim a 5-2 victory.

Against Georgetown (6-10), the Bulldogs dropped the doubles competition to give the Hoyas a 1-0 lead.

In the singles action, freshman
Willem van Zyl won at the No. 2 position against Marco Lam by a score of 6-4, 5-7, 10-8. Freshman
Noah Nawabi won at the No. 3 spot by a score of 2-6, 6-2, 7-6, and sophomore
Matthew Henson took the No. 4 spot with a 6-2, 6-0 score. The Hoyas won 4-3 overall.

The Bulldogs will return to the Earle Tennis Center to host SoCon competitor Wofford and USC Sumter on Wednesday. The match against the Terriers is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the match against the Fire Ants is set for 5:30 p.m.

The Terriers currently hold a 12-8 overall record and are 2-3 in the SoCon after defeating Chattanooga 6-1 on Sunday. This will be the second time the Bulldogs face USC Sumter this season after defeating the Fire Ants 8-1 at the USC Sumter Invitational on February 10.
