Women’s Soccer Falls 2-0 on the Road at North Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Citadel women's soccer team fell 2-0 to North Florida Sunday afternoon as the Ospreys took advantage of a pair of second-half goals to secure the victory at Hodges Stadium.

North Florida (6-2) was relentless on offense, out-shooting The Citadel (5-3) 20-4 with nine shots being on frame, keeping the Bulldogs' defense on their heels all game long, particularly in the second half. The two second half goals for the Ospreys means North Florida has now scored seven of their 10 goals this season in the final 45 minutes of regulation.

After a scoreless first half, North Florida's Kelli Crowley gave the Ospreys a 1-0 advantage off a cross from the left side by Sarah Wasser in the 47th minute. Crowley took advantage of a well-placed ball from Wasser and sent a header into the lower left corner for her first goal of the season.

In the 76th minute, Brandi Walker extended the lead out to 2-0, scoring her first goal of the season for North Florida.

Despite giving up the two goals, Logan Leask (1-1) made seven saves on the day while Rhiannon Conelley (6-2) was forced to make three saves en route to securing her fourth shutout of the season.

The Citadel will next open Southern Conference (SoCon) play on Friday, Sept. 22, traveling to Mercer. The SoCon opener is slated to kick off at 7 p.m. in Macon, Ga., and the game will be available on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN App.
