MACON, Ga. – After shutting out Samford 3-0 in the conference opener on Friday night, The Citadel volleyball team fell against the Mercer Bears 3-1 in Macon, Georgia, on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (6-12, 1-1 SoCon) dropped the first and second set, 25-13 and 25-14, before making a comeback in the third set to win 25-22. The Bears ultimately closed out the match 3-1 with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.
Freshman
Sharlissa De Jesus was the lead attacker for the Bulldogs again this weekend with 12 kills against the Bears and 11 digs. Freshman
Megan Fuhr led the Bulldogs in digs with 15, and assists with 21.
Up next, the Bulldogs will travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina, to face conference opponent Wofford on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 6:00 p.m. The Terriers (10-5, 1-1) recently defeated Mercer on Friday, Sept. 22, and face off against Samford at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. The match on Wednesday against the Terriers will be broadcast on the SoCon Digital Network and live stats will be available at CitadelSports.com.
