CHARLESTON, S.C. –
The ninth-seeded Citadel women's soccer team heads to Birmingham, Alabama this weekend to take on top-seeded Samford on Saturday, Oct. 27. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Eastern.

LAST TIME OUT (W, 3-2, at No. 8 Wofford)
It was a tale of two completely different halves Wednesday night as the No. 9 seed Citadel women's soccer team defeated No. 8 seed Wofford, 3-2, in the first round of the 2018 Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championship. The Bulldogs fell behind 2-0 in the opening half despite a furious late attack in the closing minutes, but the second half belonged to the more aggressive, visiting 'Dogs. The Citadel out-shot Wofford 14-9 in the second half en route to the 3-2 victory behind two goals from freshman Kessy Bradshaw.

WINNING A SOCON TOURNAMENT GAME
The 3-2 win over Wofford marks the first SoCon Tournament win since the 2014 team defeated No. 8 seed VMI 3-0. Following the 2014 win over VMI, the Bulldogs also went on to play at No. 1 seed Samford. Wednesday's win marks the third SoCon Tournament win in program history. The 2010 team defeated No. 6 seed Furman 2-1 in double overtime at home.

NINE WINS
The Bulldogs' nine wins so far this season are the most since the 2010 squad won 12 contests.

SCORING IN BUNCHES
With the three goals scored Wednesday against Wofford, The Citadel now has 34 goals on the year, tying the 2014 team for third most in program history. The 2002 team set the standard with 38 goals scored and the 2010 team finished the year with 37 goals scored.

SCORING MULTIPLE GOALS
The Bulldogs have now scored multiple goals in 12 games this season, marking the most multi-goal team performances since the 2010 team finished the year with 13 multi-goal outings.

SETTING A NEW PROGRAM STANDARD FOR ASSISTS
After adding three assists Wednesday, the Bulldogs now have 30 assists for the season, setting a new program record, breaking the original mark set by the 2009 team. It is just the seventh time since 2001 that The Citadel has recorded 20 or more assists in a single season.

BRADSHAW WITH TWO GOALS IN A GAME
Bradshaw's two goals Wednesday against Wofford mark the most goals scored by a Bulldog in a SoCon Tournament game. She, Katherine Arroyo and Logan Dix have all notched multi-goal performances this season.

KELLY B. WITH THE PROGRAM RECORD
With her eighth win of the season between the pipes Wednesday night at Wofford, goalkeeper Kelly Brahmbhatt set a program record for wins in a single season by a Bulldog keeper.

BULLDOGS MOVING UP CAREER LISTS
Dix, Arroyo, Hannah Roth and Kooba Richard have all made moves up various career lists this season. Dix moved up into sole possession of 11th all-time for career goals scored as she netted her 10th-career goal on Sunday, Oct. 14 at Wofford. She now has 25 career points (10 goals, 5 assists), moving her into sole possession of 11th in program history. Arroyo is currently tied for 13th all-time with nine career goals, scoring her fifth goal of the season in the win over VMI (9/30). THE HISTORY WITH SAMFORD
Samford holds an 11-1-1 mark over The Citadel dating back to the 2008 season. The Lowcountry Bulldogs claimed their first win in the series, 3-2, on the road on Oct. 18, 2013. Prior to that, The Citadel and Samford worked to a 0-0, double-overtime draw on Oct. 2, 2011. Saturday will mark the second time that The Citadel and Samford have faced off following a Citadel win in the SoCon Tournament. During the 2014 season, the Lowcountry Bulldogs bested eighth-seeded VMI 3-0 on the road before falling, 6-0, at No. 1 seed Samford three days later.

SCOUTING The BIRMINGHAM BULLDOGS
Samford, which has now claimed the last five SoCon regular-season titles, enters the weekend riding a seven-game winning streak. The Bulldogs from Birmingham have earned a positive result in 10 straight games dating back to early September. Samford scored multiple goals in all but two of their last 10 games. Twelve different Bulldogs have scored this season, led by Erin Bonner's six goals off 39 shots. Alyssa Frazier is fourth on the team with six points thanks to four assists to go along with her one goal. Bonner leads the team with three game-winning goals, while Sommi is the only other Samford player with multiple game-winners as she boasts two. In goal, Stephanie Westaway has appeared in all 17 games and has played over 1,500 minutes. She brings a 1.07 goals against average and 62 saves into Saturday.
