CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel cross country team along with College of Charleston and the Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission play host the inaugural Charleston Classic Collegiate Cross County Meet at Johns Island County Park on Saturday.

The meet includes a men's 8K race beginning at 9 a.m. followed by a women's 5K race at 9:45 on a flat, scenic course consisting mostly of grass with some dirt trails. The course provides ample viewing for spectators, and there will be bus and car parking located at the event venue.

The Citadel Last Time Out
The Citadel most recently competed in the USC Upstate Invitational. The men's team took seventh place overall in a field of 17 teams by a score of 168 with Colin Martin leading the team placing 10th overall with a final time of 26:27.6. The freshman duo of Lane Johnson and Devin Heisler provided additional points for the Bulldogs by finishing in the top 55.

The Citadel women's team took 13th place overall in a field of 17 teams by a score of 345 with Bulldogs scoring in 22-54-80-91-98.. Sophomore Amber Opp was the top finisher for the Bulldogs, placing 24th overall with a final time of  19:10.50. Casey Miller and Jordan Neeley would be the next pair to cross the line for the Citadel, running 20:31.90 and 21:37.70, respectively.
