CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team dropped a hard-fought battle to Chattanooga on senior day. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• In the first set, Sharlissa De Jesus led the Bulldogs hit .600 with seven kills on ten attempts. De Jesus also recorded six digs to begin the match before The Citadel would drop the set by a score of 21-25.
• The Citadel would drop the second set by a score of 25-20 after five Mocs would rack up at least a pair of kills, with Gylian Finch recording a set-high four. 
• The Bulldogs got off to a quick start in the third set, taking a 10-5 lead prior to a Chattanooga timeout. The Citadel would continue to pour on the offense and take the set 25-18.
• Mellanie King would start the fourth set serving six straight points to put the Bulldogs on top 6-0. The Bulldogs would then get back-to-back blocking assists to extend the lead to six points. The Bulldogs would route the Mocs in the fourth set, winning by 10 points.
• To start the fifth set, the Mocs would serve three consecutive points before a Bulldog timeout. De Jesus would tally the next three kills before serving out of bounds for a Moc point. The Citadel wouldn't't be able to overcome errors and would drop the final set.

• Sharlissa De Jesus would record a new career-high of 28 kills to go along with 18 digs and a pair of aces. De Jesus notched a hitting percentage of .426 after taking 54 swings. 
• Mellanie King was next in line for the Bulldogs on offense, recording a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs. 
• Senior Sumerlyn Carruthers assisted in a pair of blocks to go along with nine kills while Megan Fuhr assisted on 48 points and added a pair of service aces.
• Defensively, libero Caricia Rodriguez would dig 17 balls as well as tallying five assists.
• As a team, the Bulldogs outnumbered the Mocs in all statistical categories but would tally an addition six errors.
