CHARLESTON, S.C. – With the 2018 season almost complete, head Citadel men's tennis coach
Chuck Kriese is already working towards the 2019 season as he has signed two incoming freshmen to their National Letters of Intent.
The duo includes four-star player
Phillip Quinn out of Dallas, Texas, and two-star player
Josiah Schainblatt from Raleigh, North Carolina.
Not only does Kriese bring in the two talented freshmen, he will also return a healthy core group of players that features all the main pieces from the 2018 season as well as the Bulldogs' top player from 2017.
"I'm very excited about the direction we are headed as a program. We have been working tirelessly to create a winning culture for the tennis program here at The Citadel, and that includes bringing everybody back from this year's team while adding Phillip and Josiah into the mix," Kriese said. "We are really proud to add Phillip and Josiah to our ranks as they are more than just two very skilled players. They will both make excellent cadet-athletes and I believe they will thrive here at The Citadel while making us even better."
Phillip Quinn

During his freshman campaign, Quinn helped Highland Park claim the first-ever AAAAAA state championship in University Interscholastic League (UIL) history and he was a member of the state runner-up in mixed doubles that same academic year. The Scotties also claimed the AAAAA state titles in 2016 and 2017 and finished third in 2015. Quinn will plan to major in international politics and military affairs.
