SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Citadel volleyball suffered their first loss in conference play to Wofford in Spartanburg this Friday.
How it Happened
- The Bulldogs took the first set from Wofford behind three kills and two blocks from Sarah Dobrich. Dobrich's third kill of the set came when the Bulldogs took their largest lead of the game, 21-14. The Citadel would go on to close the set after Wofford committed three attack errors followed by a Maya Elassal kill.
- The Terriers would bounce back and take the second set after getting out to an early 9-4 lead behind three consecutive service aces from Catie Cronister. Elassal recorded three kills and a block in the set to bring her total to five.
- The Citadel began the third set with a kill from Sumerlyn Carruthers in addition a blocking assist by Dobrich and Carruthers but wouldn't be able to garner a win.
- Wofford finished the match with a 25-14 victory over the Bulldogs, led by Cronister again register two service aces to close things out.
- The Bulldogs were led by Mellanie King who tallied six kills, 11 digs and two blocks. Elassal and Dobrich both finished with five kills apiece. On the defensive side of the ball, Dobrich and Carruthers recorded five blocks respectively while King and Sharlissa De Jesus notched 11 digs in the match.

- "Tonight was a tough game against a great opponent and I think we agree as a team that we can play better than the way we did. We made some costly errors that we don't normally make and will hopefully clean those up for the next match.I think it will be a good test of character to come back tomorrow and play against another very successful program like Furman."
