  • The Bulldogs welcome Chattanooga to Johnson Hagood Stadium for the 2018 home opener. Kickof is set for 6 p.m.

  • The Bulldogs are looking for their first win of the season after dropping a 28-21 decision at No. 10 Wofford in the opener.
  • Chattanooga is coming off a 34-10 victory over Tennessee Tech last Thursday.
  • The Bulldogs are 79-25-2 in home openers dating back to 1909. They are also 50-18-2 in home opener in Johnson Hagood Stadium since it opened in 1948.
  • The Citadel is just 19-30-2 all-time against Chattanooga, but have won each of the last two meetings under head coach Brent Thompson.
  • Lorenzo Ward had a big game in the opener as he rushed for a career-high 124 yards and a touchdown on 22 touches. The performance marked the fifth-straight season the Bulldogs had a100-yard rusher in the season opener.
  • Noah Dawkins intercepted a pair of passes in the opener. The interceptions were the first two of his career.
  • Dawkins set up the first touchdown with his first interception, then took matters into his own hands and returned the second interception 47 yards for a touchdown.
  • The efforts of Dawkins were noticed by the league as the senior was tabbed the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
  • Freshman punter Matthew Campbell averaged 44.6 yards on his eight punts. He kicked three balls over 50 yards and had a pair of his punts downed inside the 15-yard line.
  • The Mocs used an aerial attack in the season-opening victory as they threw for 318 yards. Nearly half of the yards came on two big pass plays.
  • Chattanooga also had an interception returned for a touchdown on their first defensive possession of the second half.
Inside The Numbers
124 - Lorenzo Ward rushed for a career-high 124 yards on 22 carries. He also scored on a nine-yard run for the first TD of the season. He rattled off a 43-yard run on the final play of the first half.
44.6 - Freshman Matthew Campbell averaged 44.6 yards on eight punts in his collegiate debut. He kicked a long of 53 yards and had two of his punts downed inside the 20-yard line.
21 - The Bulldogs took advantage of three Wofford miscues to score all 21 points off of turnovers.
7 - The Citadel had seven true freshman play in their first games at Wofford. Two of the freshman, Chris Beverly and Destin Mack, got the start on defense.  Matthew Campbell also got the start at punter.
3 - The Citadel forced three turnovers in the season opener at Wofford. Noah Dawkins had two of the turnovers with a pair of interceptions, one of which he returned 47 yards for a touchdown.


On This Date
In 2012, The Citadel got a 37-yard field goal from from Thomas Warren to give the Bulldogs a 23-21 victory over No. 3 Georgia Southern at Johnson Hagood Stadium. The 11-play drive was an answer the Eagles touchdown drive that gave them their first lead of the game.  The game ended with a GSU field goal attempt that sailed wide left.

The Bulldogs play host ot Chattanooga in the 2018 home opener. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Johnson Hagood Stadium.


Grandparents' Day
Saturday's home opener will be Grandparents' Day where you can buy two tickets to the game and get two pregame meals for $50. Each additional ticket and meal is $25.


Youth Football Day
Saturday is also Youth Football Night at Johnson Hagood Stadium. You can purchase 10 general admission tickets for your youth program for $10 and get 20 tickets free.

The forecast is calling for temperatures to reach the upper 80s with the possibility of some rain showers early in the day.


vs. Chattanooga
The Bulldogs and Mocs are meeting for the 52nd time with Chattanooga holding a 30-19-2 advantage in the series. The Citadel has won each of the last two meetings. The series is 12-12-1 in games played in Charleston.


Last Game vs. Chattanooga
The Bulldogs scored the final 13 points of the game in a 20-14 victory in Chattanooga, Tenn. Jacob Godek kicked a pair of field goals, including a 45 yarder, and Rod Johnson scored from four-yards out to erase the seven-point deficit. Aron Spann, III helped the comeback with a pair of interceptions.


Home Openers
The Bulldogs are 79-25-2 in home openers dating back to 1909. The Citadel has won each of the last three home openers. The Bulldogs are 50-18-2 in home openers inside Johnson Hagood Stadium

Dawkins Named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week
Senior Noah Dawkins became the first Bulldog to earn Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors since the 2016 season with his performance against Wofford. Dawkins picked off a pair of passes and returned one for a touchdown in season opener.


100-Yard Rusher in Season Opener
The 124-yard performance from Lorenzo Ward marked the fifth-straight year the Bulldogs had a 100-yard rusher in the season opener.

Dawkins With Two INTs
Linebacker Noah Dawkins picked off a pair of passes and returned one 47 yards for a touchdown at Wofford. His first interception set up the Bulldogs first touchdown, while his second came on the opening possession of the second half to pull The Citadel within seven points. Dawkins is the first linebacker with two interceptions in a game since Quinlan Washing against VMI in 2015.
