CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel volleyball team dropped their first match of the College of Charleston Invitational to Charleston Southern.
Match Against Charleston Southern
- The Citadel went back and forth with the Buccaneers heading into the fifth set tied at two apiece.
- The Bulldogs were led by Sharlissa De Jesus, who recorded her first double double on the year with 27 kills and 18 digs. Sumerlyn Carruthers finished the match with 18 kills and Maya Elassal tallied seven total kills with a new career-high four block assists.
- Defensively, Caricia Rodriguez recorded 24 digs to go along with ten blocks as a team.

"I thought we came out ready to play today and that is something we have struggled with so far in the season. It's great to see consistency with some of our players like Sharlissa and Sumerlyn. We would have liked to win that match but as a coaching staff, we are proud that the team is executing what we are teaching them at practice."

The Bulldogs will take on host, College of Charleston tomorrow at 12 p.m. and will follow with a match against UNC Asheville at 4:30 p.m.
