Bulldogs Drop Aggressive Battle At ETSU

JOHNSON CITY, TENN. – The Bulldogs fell on the road to the top team in the SoCon, ETSU Saturday afternoon, 1-3.

GAME INFORMATION
Score: The Citadel 1, ETSU 3
Records: The Citadel 4-13, 0-6, ETSU 15-3, 6-0
Location: Johnson City, Tenn.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bucs came out swinging in the first set, recording 17 kills collectively and topping the Bulldogs, 25-16
  • A mix of attack errors and a five-point run by ETSU led the 'Dogs to drop the second set, 18-25.
  • The Citadel's front row came alive in the third set with the squad jumping out to a quick, 3-0 lead.
  • The 'Dogs notched a total 15 kills in the third set, five of those coming from junior Sharlissa De Jesus.
  • The Citadel would not give up the lead the entire third set, winning, 25-21.
  • The Bulldogs went toe-to-toe with the Bucs in the fourth set but a combination of a six-point then two three-point runs by ETSU led to a 25-20 loss for the 'Dogs.
BY THE NUMBERS
  • The Bulldogs were out paced at the net as ETSU registered 10 blocks to The Citadel's two.
  • De Jesus logged her fifth double-double on the season with 17 kills and 13 digs on the nights.
  • Junior Megan Fuhr had 42 assists for the match, her second highest match after recording 48 against Southern earlier in the year.

The Citadel hosts Delaware State for the first time in program history Sunday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m.
