CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel baseball head coach
Tony Skole announced the signing of 10 future cadet-athletes for the 2021 season. The list includes seven position players and three pitchers.
"I am very excited and proud of these 10 young men who have chosen The Citadel to be the place where they will continue their academic and baseball career," said Skole. "This class is a dynamic group of athletes who have had tremendous success on the field, but what excites me even more, are the qualities off the field that each possess.
"We recruit a special type of young man to be in our program and I have no doubt that each of these men will have great success on the field, in the class room and in the Corps of Cadets. I cannot wait to get these young men on campus next August, and I am thrilled and honored that I am going to have the opportunity to coach them."

Antonio Colon, INF, Saint Johns, Fla. (Creekside)
Plays for head coach Kristopher King at Creekside High School. Also plays for FTB Jacksonville travel organization.
"Antonio is a quality defender that we predict will have the ability to defend at a high level at shortstop, third or second base when he enters our program. He has a seemingly never-ending motor on the field and a visible competitive hunger to win each pitch. As Antonio continues to grow into his frame, we anticipate him being a quality player on both offense and defense. Antonio is a Top 1000 player in the country by Perfect Game."
Harmon Cox, RHP/SS, Hopkins, S.C. (A.C. Flora)
Plays for head coach Andy Hallett at A.C. Flora High School. Also plays for Upstate Mavs travel organization.
"Harmon is a very athletic right-handed pitcher who is also a terrific defender on the infield. He pitches from a three-quarter arm slot with some deception. He has inspired us all by how he has overcome adversity off the field, and we have no doubt he will only continue to grow inside the environment at The Citadel. With his continued development, we project Harmon to immediately compete to play a big role in helping our program win. He is a ranked as a Top 500 player in the country by Perfect Game, and also the ninth-ranked right handed pitcher in the state of South Carolina by Diamond Prospects."
Conner Cummiskey, RHP, Highlands Ranch, Colo. (Heritage)
Plays for head coach Tyler Munro at Heritage High School. Also plays for USA Prime travel organization.
"Conner is a quick-twitch athlete who has shined in other athletic arenas of his high school career. He is currently leading his football team towards a state championship as the starting quarterback. On the mound, Conner features a low-90s fastball and a curveball, while developing his changeup. As he enters our program and gets inside of Coach Cooper's development plan, we believe Conner's pitch package will grow and be capable to pitch with a high level of velocity. Conner is a Top 500 player nationally by Perfect Game and is the eighth-ranked right-handed pitcher in the state of Colorado."
Travis Elliott, INF, Lexington, S.C. (Gilbert)
Plays for head coach Ashley Burnett at Gilbert High School. Also plays for the Dirtbags travel organization.
"Travis is a physical player with steady ability on the field. He always plays hard and has the consistent ability in the batter's box, with the glove and throwing from all spots in the infield. We have evaluated Travis throughout his high school career and have witnessed his skill set improve and grew to appreciate his steadiness on the field. Like many of his fellow signees, Travis personifies everything our baseball program and institution look for in a young man. He models our standards and displays a great deal of toughness, passion and leadership in everything that he does. He is the eighth-ranked second baseman in the state of South Carolina by Diamond Prospects."
Antonio Gleaton, OF, Atlanta, Ga. (Hapeville Charter Career Academy)
Plays for head coach Esteban Maldonado at Hapeville Charter Career Academy. Also plays for the Upstate Mavs travel organization.
"Antonio is undoubtedly one of the fastest runners we have had the opportunity to recruit to The Citadel. His running tool is first class and he has recorded home-to-first times as fast as 3.5 seconds. Antonio is a switch hitter who has the ability to bunt for a hit and handle the barrel. He has a high level of awareness to best utilize his speed in the batter's box and on the base paths, allowing him to create a great deal of pressure to an opposing defense. He is a gifted defender who will certainly assist in run prevention by having a high level of ability to run down batted balls in the outfield. Beyond his baseball abilities, Antonio is a tremendously bright young man who has a relentless way about everything that he does. He is a Top 500 player nationally by Perfect Game, and a Top 150 player in the talent rich state of Georgia."
Ben Hutchins, UTL, Inman, S.C. (Boling Springs)
Plays for head coach Jeff Lipscomb at Boling Springs High School. Also plays for The Evoshield Canes travel organization.
"Ben has a physical frame that allows his higher level of strength to create a great deal of force, producing highly impactful velocities on his batted balls. He has the ability to play virtually anywhere on the field and it became very clear to us in the recruiting process that he plays the game with the type of edge we look to identify in players. Ben has the personality, leadership traits and spirit to thrive at a very high level inside our baseball program and inside The Citadel. He is ranked as the No. 3 third baseman in the state of South Carolina by Perfect Game and Diamond Prospects."
Collier Mershon, RHP, Highland Village, Texas (Marcus)
Plays for head coach Jeff Sherman at Marcus High School. Also plays for the Arlington A's travel organization.
"Collier has a projectable frame that has tons of room to add strength and physicality. He is a proven strike thrower who has shown the ability to throw four pitches for strikes in any count. He has consistently added velocity during high school, getting his fastball into the upper-80s. As Collier gets inside our program, we believe he will progress under the leadership of our fantastic strength and conditioning staff. We project his velocity to continue to climb, while maintaining the ability to throw multiple pitches for strikes. Collier is a Top 1000 player nationally by Perfect Game."
Rohan Shah, RHP/OF, Chicago, Ill. (Lyons Township)
Plays for head coach Kevin Diete at Lyons Township. Also plays for the Elite Baseball travel organization.
"Rohan has a projectable frame that he is currently working hard to continue to grow into. His growth and development this past summer really took off as he was able to elevate his fastball into the low-90s. Knowing how hard Rohan works and how determined he is to consistently improve, we believe the ceiling for his future potential as a baseball player is extremely high. Rohan is a Top 1000 player in the country by Perfect Game."
Wyatt Spurrier, UTL, Taylors, S.C. (Eastside)
Plays for head coach Scott Erwin at Eastside High School. Also plays for Body Shop Baseball travel organization.
"Wyatt is a fast-twitch athlete that features an offensive skill package that is dynamic in both speed and power. He also features the defensive ability to play anywhere on the field, making him a true utility player. We love the winning fibers made up inside Wyatt that he showed in helping Eastside to the 4A state championship. He is ranked the No. 5 best outfielder in South Carolina by Diamond Prospects, and the No. 9 shortstop in the state by Perfect Game."
Jeffrey Zeigler, INF, Moncks Corner, S.C. (Berkeley)
Plays for head coach Landy Cox at Berkeley High School. Also plays for Kenny Wilkinson with North Charleston Baseball and has played for the Evoshield Canes in previous summers.
"Jeffrey has a physical frame with a present ability to hit for power. As he inserts himself into our program and integrates himself into our strength and conditioning program, we anticipate Jeffrey to compete to have a strong impactful presence in the middle of our lineup. He is a reliable defender with an accurate arm across the infield. Jeffrey is one of, if not the, most distinguished high school players in the Lowcountry this year. He was named the 7-AAAAA Player of the Year by the Region 7 coaches, all state and won the Charleston H.I.T. Home Run Derby."
"I am very grateful for the tremendous effort that our coaching staff delivered in assembling this recruiting class," said Skole. Coach (Aaron) Gershenfeld, Coach (Blake) Cooper, Coach (Jonathon) Sabo and director of baseball operations,
Joey Gamache, deserve all the credit for building this class and bringing this group together. They have been relentless and elite over the last two years in their efforts.
"This class represents our third recruiting class for our coaching staff since we arrived at The Citadel. These young men will meet some very specific needs and they will immediately benefit our program as soon as they arrive. It's a great day to be a Bulldog!"
