KEY STATS
  • Carver's Keith Krouser opened the game with an old-fashioned three-point play to put the Cougars up 3-0 in the first 20 seconds, but The Citadel answered with a 19-0 run that began with an Eddie Davis, III layup and was capped by a Tyson Batiste fast-break layup.
  • With 12:14 left in the first half, the Bulldog lead was pushed to 20 when Brady Spence slammed home a dunk off a feed from Batiste.
  • Long scoreless stretches hampered the Cougars' efforts, including a 7:01 stretch in the middle of the first half that saw Carver turn the ball over seven times and miss eight shots during the stretch.
  • Kaelon Harris gave the Bulldogs a 31-point lead with 6:37 left in the opening stanza when he converted a pair of free throws, and with 1:35 left in the first half, Kaiden Rice made it a 32-point, 52-20 game with a 3-pointer. That mark would hold into the intermission.
  • The Bulldogs opened the second half with a 24-0 run that began with a Harris dunk and ended with a Rudy Fitzgibbons, III trey.
  • Carver's Jhonny Lutula broke up a scoreless drought of over 10:30 that stretched from 4:28 to go in the first half to 13:38 to go in the second half when he converted a layup.
  • Alex Reed made it a 71-point, 101-30 game with a layup with 4:55 to go.
  • For the second straight game, Rice led all scorers, this time with 19 points, including a game-high five 3-pointers. Rice went 5-of-9 (.556) from beyond the arc and now boasts 14 games in his career, including three this season, where he has converted at least four treys.
  • Harris and Davis each recorded a double-double in the game. Harris scored 17 points and corralled 11 rebounds in, while Davis scored 12 points and brought down 14 boards.
  • The Bulldogs shot 52.6% (40-76) from the field for the game, marking the second time this season the 'Dogs have converted at least 50% of their shots from the field in a game. The Citadel converted 52.9% (27-51) of their field goals in the season opener against UNC Asheville on Nov. 9.
  • Carver managed to shoot just 22.7% (15-66) from the field, including connecting on just 16.0% (4-25) of their shots from long range.
  • With Carver converting just four treys, the Bulldogs have held two opponents to fewer than five 3-pointers made this season, including Illinois' three made treys on Nov. 20.

NOTABLES
  • The win marked Baucom's 200th-career win as a head coach at the NCAA Division I level. Baucom boasts a 200-250 career record at the Division I level between 10 years at VMI and 4+ at The Citadel.
  • The 108 points scored by the Bulldogs were the most since the 2018-19 squad scored 127 against Johnson & Wales (Charlotte) on Dec. 5, 2018.
  • Saturday marked the 22nd time that the 'Dogs have scored at least 100 points under Baucom's guidance. The Citadel is 19-3 in Baucom's tenure when eclipsing the century mark and 49-5 all-time in program history.
  • The 68-point victory marked the largest margin of victory for the Bulldogs since the 2018-19 team out-scored Johnson (Fla.) by 77, 137-60, last season on Nov. 14, 2018.
  • The 40 points scored by Carver are the fewest allowed in the Baucom era and the modern era. The 40 points are the fewest scored by an opponent against The Citadel since Presbyterian scored just 37 on Dec. 11, 1964.
  • With 52 points scored in the first half, the Bulldogs eclipsed the 50-point mark in the first half for the first time since scoring 50 in the first half at home against UNC Greensboro last season on Feb. 28, 2019.
  • With 56 point scored in the second half, the 'Dogs eclipsed the 50-point mark in the second half for the first time since scoring 52 against Longwood last season on Dec. 29, 2018.
  • For the second time this season, the Bulldogs held an opponent to fewer than 30 points in both the first and second half. The 'Dogs held Brevard to 26 points in the first half and 21 points in the second half on Nov. 26.
  • The Bulldogs brought down 28 defensive rebounds Saturday against Carver, matching the fourth-most in program history.
  • The 57 rebounds corralled by the 'Dogs mark the 11th-most in program history.
  • On Saturday, seven players finished with double-digit points, marking the first time since last season against Mid-Atlantic Christian on Nov. 12, 2018 that seven Bulldogs all finished in double figures.
  • Harris' double-double was the fifth of his career and fourth this season.
  • Davis' double-double was the second of his career and season. The 14 boards by Davis in his double-double effort marked a career high for the graduate transfer.

QUOTABLES FROM COACH BAUCOM
On reaching 200 wins at the NCAA Division I level
"I hadn't really thought about it until the guys reminded me about it in the locker room, but it makes me think about all the great kids that I have had at two military schools who have done what I have asked them to do and turned into great young men. The credit really goes to them."

On what his staff takes from the win
"For us, it was all about staying in our system and doing what we do best while getting better defensively and better at boxing out, which we did for the most part. The last four minutes or so, we had four freshmen out there and it got a little sloppy, but for the first probably 30 minutes of the game, I thought we were pretty spot on. But it was great for the young guys to get them playing time and put guys out on the court together with different looks."
