CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel wrestling team resumes its Southern Conference schedule Sunday with a road dual at Appalachian State.
In their last outing, the Bulldogs dropped their dual against Campbell despite having three wrestlers pick up wins.
- 197 – Sawyer Root (CIT) over Rodney Jones (CHAT) – Decision (2-0)
- 184 – Martin Duane (CIT) over Ben Stacey (CHAT) – Major Decision (11-3)
- 157- Rian Burris (CIT) over Ryan Resnick (CHAT) – Decision (12-10)
Root, who is currently ranked No. 25, will face off against No. 17 ranked Randall Diabe. Diabe has narrowly defeated Root twice this year going into the dual. The pair are the lone 197-pound wrestlers that remain undefeated in the Southern Conference.
The last time The Citadel defeated the Mountaineers dates back to 2013-14 when they finished with a final team score of 25-9.
